son of man shot by police files wrongful death lawsuit against city and policeman

The son of a 70-year old man, John Schaefer, that was shot and killed by police nearly two years ago is suing the city and the police office who killed his father.

The case stems from a call to 911 that Schaefer made on March 1, 2013 to report that he had shot a pit bull that had attacked him in his backyard.

When officers arrived to the scene, Schaefer still had his gun despite 911 dispatchers asking him to put it away.  When officers on scene tried to disarm him, he pointed the gun at police and was shot twice in the chest.

The lawsuits from the officer trying to “improperly disarm” Schaefer which led to the mans death.
